       Heart of Texas German Shepherds is the premier breeder and kennel for world-class Heidelberg German shepherds.

Based in East Texas, we are conveniently located between Houston and Dallas, and within easy driving distance of Austin. Our facility is nestled in the rural town of Grapeland, just an hour east of I-45 and Huntsville – a perfect spot for raising and
​caring for our magnificent shepherds!

Originally bred to guard cattle herds and flocks of sheep, and used as skillful messengers on the battlefield, German shepherds are highly intelligent and can be trained for service as seeing eye dogs, or police, military or therapy duties. Their instincts to protect and their approach to their tasks from a playful standpoint make them family-friendly dogs and ideal lifetime companions.
